Professor Rachel López and 3L Gabrielle Nonnenberg-Reid were quoted in CBS Philly’s Oct. 4 coverage of services that the law school’s Community Lawyering Clinic is providing to residents of Mantua and Powelton Village.
Located in Drexel’s Dornsife Center at 35th and Spring Garden streets, the clinic is a boon to many members of the community, Nonnenberg-Reid said in an article that appeared on CBS Philly online and in a segment that aired on KYW Radio on Oct. 4.
“A lot of people fall into that gap where you can’t afford an attorney,” she said, adding that the recently opened clinic has already handled immigration and family law matters, especially divorce.
López said the clinic is committed to supporting residents of the neighborhoods adjacent to the Drexel campus.
The clinic, which offers direct legal services, referrals and community education on legal matters, offered a workshop for area residents coping with debt at its second Law Day on Oct. 3. The clinic offered a workshop on tangled title issues for homeowners at the inaugural Law Day on Sept. 5.
Mantua resident Carol Dudley told KYW Radio that the clinic provided her with greatly needed legal assistance on a worker’s compensation issue.
